WIN! A Heljan Class 33/1 and a Kernow 4-TC worth more than £400!
Hornby Magazine, Heljan and Kernow Model Rail Centre are offering an exclusive prize of Heljan’s Class 33/1 D6580 in BR green with small yellow warning panels and 4-TC (Trailer Control) four-car trailer unit 416 in original BR blue.
The pairing creates an authentic push-pull formation for the Southern Region at the introduction of the 4-TCs. The Class 33/1 included in the prize is the first push-pull fitted Class 33/1 – and the only one to carry BR green. These formations were used on Bournemouth-Weymouth services from 1966, when the first 4-TCs entered service. The TC four-car trailer units were propelled from London Waterloo to Bournemouth by 4-REP Eletric Multiple Units, where a Class 33/1 would take over for the rest of the journey on non-electrified track to Weymouth. For more on the story of the 4-TCs see HM123.
The Class 33/1 is available from Heljan stockists while the 4-TC is available direct from Kernow Model Rail Centre via its Camborne and Guildford shops as well as via mail order. There are also five further livery versions available on the 4-TC including BR blue and grey, Network SouthEast and Research red and blue. A new batch of Class 33/1s has also been announced by Heljan including two special editions for Kernow Model Rail Centre.
