Locomotion Models, Rails of Sheffield and Dapol have announced a brand-new ready-to-run ‘OO’ gauge model of the South Eastern and Chatham Railway ‘D’ 4-4-0. Release is on target for the third quarter of 2020.
The Wainwright ‘D’ Class was introduced in 1901 and 51 were built. The last was withdrawn in 1956 and the National Railway Museum in York holds the sole surviving example – 737 in SECR lined green.
The new Dapol produced ‘OO’ model will feature a locomotive mounted mechanism, a Next18 decoder socket and a cube speaker enclosure mounted on a removable board, space for a second speaker in the tender, a die-cast boiler, turned metal wheels with profiled centres, a fully detailed cab interior and more.
The first sample from the tooling has been received and is currently being inspected prior to creation of the engineering sample. The sample shown here is subject to revisions.
Seven versions will be available on release with Locomotion Models offering National Collection ‘D’ 737 in fully lined SECR green. Rails of Sheffield will be offering a second SECR green version together with wartime grey, Maunsell olive green, black with Southern sunshine lettering, BR black with sunshine lettering and BR lined black models.
Prices are to be confirmed.
