Accurascale has unveiled plans to produce the JSA steel coil carrier as its next ‘OO’ gauge project.
Announcing the project at The Great Electric Train Show in Milton Keynes today (Saturday October 12), tooling will allow production of the new wagons in their as-built British Steel blue with plated sides as well as the rivetted skin they featured under VTG ownership. The recent open coil carrier conversions undertaken by Arlington Fleet Services in Eastleigh will also be produced.
First commissioned by British Steel in 1996, 56 surplus JTA/JUA iron ore tipplers were converted by Marcroft Engineering in Stoke-on-Trent, which featured three-stage telescopic hoods and carried the distinctive blue colour scheme with white text.
This latest ‘OO’ gauge project from Accurascale has been developed alongside its production plans for the PTA/JTA/JUA with the tooling now complete on these wagons, while the JSA tooling is expected to be completed within the next few weeks. The impressive specification includes sprung metal buffers, etched metal factory fitted details, separately applied pipework, BSC Axle Motion bogies, blackened RP25.110 profile wheels, NEM coupler pockets and small tension lock couplings.
Wagons will be offered as twin-packs priced at £59.95, with three original British Steel wagon packs, three VTG hooded wagon packs and three open coil carrier packs available.
