Final call for Hornby Visitor Centre open weekend

The Hornby Visitor Centre One:One Collection Open Weekend takes place on August 17/18 to celebrate the newly refurbished visitor centre and Hornby’s return to Margate. Plus it offers the first public access to the One:One Collection of locomotives and rolling stock which are stored in part of the former Hornby factory.

Doors open at 10am each (9.30am for advance ticket holders) with features including trade stands and model railway layouts in the former factory building, a hog roast, the opportunity to meet the Hornby development team and stars of the James May Big Trouble in Model Britain TV series.

Hornby Magazine will be attending the event with its ‘OO’ gauge West Coast Main Line layout West Coast Cement which will be running with digital sound throughout the weekend. Hornby Magazine’s Mike Wild and Mark Chivers will also be on hand to answer questions about all things model railway.

Gresley ‘A4’ 4464 Bittern is one of the exhibits which will be on display at the Hornby Visitor Centre Open Weekend in August.

One:One Collection exhibits include Gresley ‘A4’ 4-6-2 4464 Bittern, Stanier ‘Black Five’ 4-6-0 45379, the last surviving 4-SUB Electric Multiple Unit and crane and more.
