Limited Edition TMC ‘Whistler’

The Model Centre (TMC) has released details of an exclusive ‘OO’ gauge Class 40 1-Co-Co-1 it has commissioned from Bachmann, as 233 Empress of England in pre-TOPS BR blue (Cat No. 32-482Z).

Built at English Electric’s Vulcan Foundry, D233 entered service on BR’s London Midland Region in 1959. It was named Empress of England in 1961, lost its D prefix in the late 1960s and was an early recipient of BR blue. In 1974, 233 became 40033 under the TOPS renumbering scheme.

Bearing the hallmarks of Bachmann’s high-fidelity ‘OO’ gauge disc headcode Class 40, TMC’s limited edition model will appear in its pre-TOPS BR blue condition as 233 Empress of England with printed data panels and nameplates. Etched stainless steel nameplates and a detailing parts pack containing frost grilles will also be included.

Prices are set at £189.95 for Digital Command Control (DCC) ready and £279.95 for factory-fitted DCC sound models. TMC will also be offering its weathering and parts fitting services as additional options.

A pre-production decorated sample has been received for evaluation, with delivery anticipated during the second quarter of 2020.
