Sonic Models reveals ‘N’ gauge ‘56XX’ identities

Sonic Models has issued livery artwork confirming the identities of its first batch of Great Western Railway (GWR) ‘56XX’ 0-6-2T locomotives, ahead of decorated samples arriving for final approval.

Working closely with Revolution Trains, this release represents Sonic Models’ first ‘N’ gauge locomotive with six models planned initially as 5637 (as preserved) in lined BR green with late crests (Cat No. 52101-01), 6681 in lined BR green with late crests (52101-02), 5633 in unlined BR green with late crests (52101-03), 6639 in unlined BR black with early crests (52101-04), 5616 in GWR green (52101-05) and 6623 in Great Western green (52101-06).

Detail differences between locomotives have been incorporated into the specification including short or tall top feeds, original or heavy wheel weights and tapered or cylindrical buffers. Models will also feature Rapido couplings in NEM pockets and six-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder sockets.

Prices are set at £81.50, apart from as-preserved 5637 in lined BR green with late crests, which is priced at £89.50. A percentage of the proceeds from this latter model will be donated to the 5637 Steam Locomotive Group.

Delivery is anticipated in late 2019/early 2020.
