Accurascale shows PFA samples

Accurascale has received engineering samples of its fourth ‘OO’ gauge ready-to-run wagon – the PFA four-wheel container flat. Introduced in 1986 for Cawoods Coal containerised coal traffic, they ran in block trains from colleries in England and Wales to ports in the North West.

In later life, the PFAs were transferred for use on domestic coal traffic as well as receiving special containers to carry gypsum for British Gypsum and low-level nuclear waste with Direct Rail Services.

The Accurascale model features a die-cast chassis, options for coal, gypsum and nuclear containers, turned metal wheels and small tension lock couplings in NEM pockets. The engineering samples are currently being reviewed by the Accurascale team before they enter production with the manufacturer stating that they are still on course for delivery in late July 2019.

The PFAs are being released in triple packs priced at £69.95 each which are available to order direct from Accurascale.
