Hornby reveals decorated ‘Prairie’

The first factory painted samples of Hornby’s new ‘OO’ gauge model of the GWR ‘Large Prairie’ 2-6-2T arrived for inspection during April. Leading the charge are GWR green liveried ‘5101’ 4154 (Cat No. R3719) and Great Western green liveried ‘61XX’ 6110 (R3721).

The two samples are currently being inspected for revisions which will include correction of the centre steam valve, green paint for the cab front and correction of the vacuum pipe position.

The two models have matching specifications including a five-pole motor, 8-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket, turned metal wheels and sprung buffers. In addition they are to feature a fully detailed cab interior, small tension lock couplings in NEM pockets, separately fitted handrails and fully fitted brake rigging.

Prices are set at £139.99 for DCC ready versions with a DCC fitted model also planned for release (Cat Nos. R3719X and R3721X respectively) priced at £159.99. Delivery is slated for August 2019 for the GWR liveried models. Livery samples of the BR versions are expected soon.
