The first engineering samples of the Revolution Trains crowd-funded ‘N’ gauge HOA bogie hopper wagon have been received for inspection.
The models feature plastic injection-moulded bodies in two types, detail variations, fine wire discharge actuator rods plus end handrails and die-cast metal hopper floors.
These wagons were first introduced over a decade ago for EWS, with many quickly being painted into the blue/grey colours of Cemex. At this time they were particularly associated with aggregate flows to and from Peak Forest, as well as sand trains to Scotland. Some of these wagons have since been repainted into DB red.
A further batch was constructed for wagon lessor Ermewa for Tarmac stone traffic around southern England, while VTG ordered some for dedicated Mendip Rail traffic from the Somerset quarries. These last wagons have a different brake arrangements and other small detail variations which are depicted in the Revolution model.
The wagons will be available in EWS Construction grey, Cemex blue and grey, DB red, Ermewa grey with Tarmac branding and VTG silver-grey with Mendip Rail branding covering two different body styles. The wagons are available to order from Revolution Trains priced at £30.50 with delivery expected in the third quarter of 2019. Visit www.revolutiontrains.com for more information.
