Accurascale ’92’ tooling starts

Accurascale has revealed that CAD drawing work for its ‘OO’ gauge Class 92 dual-voltage electric is now complete and that tooling has started in China.

The manufacturer has carried out research and surveys with Brush Loughborough and at Crewe EMD to recreate the Class 92 for ‘OO’ – announced at Model Rail Scotland in February 2019 – while the specification includes a heavy die-cast metal chassis, directional lighting, a 21-pin DCC decoder socket and factory sound options, a five-pole motor with twin flywheels and more.

Class differences are being catered for in the design including those modified with Dellner couplings and buffer beam arrangements as implemented by GBRf to operate with Mk 5 carriages. These will be present on the current Class 92s which carry them in service.

Prices for the Class 92 are set at £160 for the DCC ready version, with £250 for the ESU Loksound 5 fitted locomotives with a multiple speaker set up. Delivery is expected in the first quarter of 2020 and modellers can order their locomotives for just a £30 deposit per locomotive only on the Accurascale website.
