On March 9/10 the Hornby Magazine team exhibited its Western Region ‘OO’ gauge layout Grosvenor Square at the Basingstoke Model Railway Exhibition. For this blog post I’m going to take you on a video guided tour of the layout highlighting its rolling stock, control system and operation.
The Basingstoke show was only the second outing for Grosvenor Square in its new extended format. The extension added 8ft to the original layout introducing the depot and part roundhouse to the plan as well as a longer approach for trains arriving at the scenic section from the return loop storage yard. We built this for a feature in HM136 and its return to the show circuit at the 2018 Great Electric Train Show.
Grosvenor’s next planned outing is at the Great Central Railway Model Event on June 14-16 where we will have expanded the motive power fleet further, as well as the passenger stock list, with recent arrival of Kernow Model Rail Centre’s D600 ‘Warships’ and Hornby’s new Collett bow-end non-corridor stock.
I hope you enjoy the video.
