Accurascale launches PCA cement wagon for ‘OO’

Accurascale announced today at the Great Electric Train Show that its next ready-to-run ‘OO’ gauge model will be the CFMF PCA bulk cement wagon while it is also to produce an ‘N’ gauge version in collaboration with Realtrack Models.

The fleet of 50 wagons were built by CFMF in France with the first entering service in 1982 and they saw service with Rugby Cement and Blue Circle initially until passing to Castle Cement in 1996. Traffic flows have included Swanscombe to Barnstaple, Bristol, Exeter Central, Middlesbrough Goods, Southampton and Theale together with a number of routes from Rhoose, Westbury and Clitheroe during their careers.

Realtrack Models previously announced a model of this distinctive wagon, but approached Accurascale in Spring 2018 with a view to forward the project, while also developing a 2mm variant.

Accurascale’s 4mm version will see the model released in STS dark grey, Rugby Cement and Castle Cement branding, featuring multiple running numbers in packs of three. The 4mm packs are priced at £69.95 for three wagons with discounted rake bundle deals also available. The specification includes over 100 separate parts in each wagon, ease of conversion to ‘EM’ and ‘P4’ wheelsets, as well as NEM pockets.

A factory sample has been received in both scales and a number of tweaks and corrections are currently being made before production. Realtrack will release the wagons in the same three liveries as Accurascale, with prices to be announced.

Delivery of the new PCA wagons is expected in January 2019 for ‘OO’ gauge while the Realtrack 2mm scale version is expected during the first quarter of 2019.

Accurascale is working with Realtrack Models to produce an ‘N’ gauge version of the PCA too. This is the CAD drawing for the wagon in 2mm scale.
