Dapol shows ‘O’ gauge Mk 1 sample

Dapol has revealed the first full engineering sample of its new Lionheart Trains ready-to-run ‘O’ gauge BR Mk 1 carriages. The new vehicles will model the Brake Second Corridor (BSK), Second Open (SO), Second Corridor (SK) and Composite Corridor (CK) in a choice of BR carmine and cream, maroon, green, chocolate and cream and blue and grey colour schemes.

The models include turned metal wheels, sprung buffers, die-cast bogie frames, detailed and painted interior and the promise of ‘gap free running’ with a close coupling mechanism and corridor connection. The latter is designed to operate down to second radius ‘O’ gauge track.

Dapol is currently making revisions to the tooling including correction of the step edges, corridor end steps and a choice of early and late corridor connection doors. Decorated samples are expected by early September with release proposed in late 2018. Prices are set at £199 per coach.
