Dapol has revealed the latest engineering samples for its ‘O’ gauge Class 122 Gloucester RCW single-car DMU as well as confirming release of the Class 121 Pressed Steel single-car DMU for release in late 2018.
The Class 122 was announced in March 2018 along with a sample bodyshell of the Class 121 – the latter has now been officially confirmed and will follow the same specification as the 122. This will include a die-cast chassis, DCC ready, DCC fitted and DCC sound fitted versions, removable glazing for the head codes to allow numbers to be mounted behind the glass, 21-pin decoder socket, different roof, side and buffer types and independent light control for DCC ready models using switches.
The Class 121 is to be released in BR green with speed whiskers as W55020 (Cat No. 7D-009-001), BR green with small yellow warning panels a W55027 (7D-009-002), BR blue and grey as W55029 (7D-009-003), BR blue as W55023 (7D-009-004), and GWR 150 chocolate and cream as W55029 (7D-009-005). Prices are set at £299 DCC ready, £329 DCC fitted and £499 DCC sound fitted.
Full engineering samples have been received for both the 121 and 122 which are now being evaluated by Dapol before progressing to the next phase of development.
