Final call for the Spalding show

The annual Spalding Model Railway Exhibition, sponsored by Hornby Magazine, takes place this weekend at the Springfields Events Centre on November 11/12 2017.

More than 30 layouts are set to attend this two-day show including Hornby Magazine’s ‘OO’ gauge BR Western Region terminus, Grosvenor Square, developed for Hornby Magazine’s Yearbook No. 9, and, from the pages of Hornby Magazine, Dave Milford and Malc Charlton’s Chollerford (HM83), David Westwood’s Elmfield (HM122), Chelmsford and District Model Railway Club’s Haddon Bank (HM91), East Riding Finescale Group’s Hospital Gates (HM58) and Outwell Village (HM49) from Alan Price.

Joining them is Peter Goss’ outstanding The World’s End, based on Knaresborough in North Yorkshire during the 2000s, and Peter Clark’s 52ft ‘O’ gauge layout, Leavesden, set during BR’s sectorisation era. Also booked to appear are Terry Tew’s Earls Court, George Woodcock and John Norton’s Fenchurch St Peter, David Harrison’s Glenellen Castle, Epsom and Ewell MRC’s Hinksey Yard, South Hants MRC’s Lee-on-the-Solent, Terry Metcalfe’s Neely, Peter Simmerson’s Uppingham, Sudbury MRC’s Wendsleydale and many more. European and Continental outline layouts include Mike Roualle and Mike Upton’s Michaelerplatz and Mike and Dee Wyldbore’s Phoenix Junction.

Demonstrations comprise Hornby Magazine contributor Paul Chetter’s DCC sound showcase, Tony Wright’s locomotive surgery, Roy Hickman’s building and scenery presentations and Waverley ‘O’ gauge group.

Hornby Magazine’s editorial team will be on hand throughout the weekend to answer any questions you may have, while the Hornby Magazine stand will have special show-only offers on subscriptions, models, accessories and scenic items.

Hornby Hobbies makes its debut at this year’s show, displaying the manufacturer’s latest engineering prototypes and pre-production samples and joins Bachmann Europe together with more than 25 traders including show sponsors Cheltenham Model Centre, DC Kits/D&E Videos and Squires Model and Craft Tools, ADM Turntables, Brickyard Models, Digitrains, Green Scene, Kytes Lights, MegaPoints Controllers, P&D Marsh, Ten Commandments, Train Tech and more.

The show starts at 10am both days, with doors open from 9.30am for disabled visitors. Tickets cost £8 for adults, £7 for concessions and accompanied children enter for free.
