Hornby to support independents

Hornby has announced that it will be addressing the way it works and supports independent retailers as part of its company-wide long-term turnaround plans.

In a press release on October 4 Hornby said: “restructuring of the business is on track, providing a platform to ensure that the iconic brands can continue to flourish in partnership with its customer base.”

The turnaround plans have been developed following feedback from customers during a series of meetings held across the UK by Hornby Hobbies recently appointed Chief Executive Officer Steve Cooke.

Commenting on the feedback, Steve Cooke said: “We have heard, very clearly, some key concerns from our customers. We have carefully considered the changes that we are now implementing to address these concerns. As a company we hope that Hornby’s independent retailers will agree that the actions we are taking are clear, decisive, and are designed to benefit their business.”

The plan for independent retailers includes new trading terms and a reduction in sale of discounted product by Hornby. The company will also be continuing discussions with its retailers through its Field Sales Executives in the run up to Christmas and Hornby is aiming to deliver a step change in overall support for all customers with further enhancements on the cards during 2017 and 2018.
