Dapol has announced that it will be producing a new ready-to-run ‘O’ gauge model of the GWR ‘57XX’ 0-6-0PT – a class which ran to more than 800 examples.
The ‘57XX’ will have a similar specification to previous Lionheart Trains ‘Panniers’ with a die-cast chassis, five pole motor, body variations, sprung buffers, 21-pin decoder socket and more all promised in the specification. Liveried will cover BR black with early crests as 5717 (Cat No. 7S-007-001), GWR green with Great Western lettering as 5700 (7S-007-002), GWR green as 9659 (7S-007-003), London Transport maroon as L94 (7S-007-004) and BR black with late crests as 3716 (7S-007-005).
The price per model is expected to start at £235 for a DCC ready model with DCC fitted and sound options promised too. A release date has not been specified.
The new model comes at the same time as the re-introduction of the ex-Lionheart Trains GWR ‘64XX’ and ‘74XX’ 0-6-0PTs under the Dapol banner together with the GWR Autotrailers previously produced by the independent ‘O’ gauge specialist.
Six ‘Panniers’ are on the cards, four ‘64XXs’ and two ‘74XXs’ with an identical specification to the original Lionheart models. However, the price has been reduced by 24% to £400. Complementing them will be five version of the Autotrailer covering GWR and BR liveries with a price point of £200 – 42% less than previous releases.
