Bachmann revealed progress with its latest projects and new samples in a half-year update on August 3. Highlights amongst the samples on display included the first shots of the Webb ‘Coal Tank’ 0-6-2T, decorated samples of the new Thompson corridor stock and the first look at the eagerly anticipated South Eastern and Chatham Railway ‘Birdcage’ stock.
Also debuting were samples of the Class 70/8 and ‘Warflat’ in ‘OO’ together with the Hawksworth ‘Autocoach’ for ‘N’ gauge. Decorated samples of the new ‘N’ gauge ‘Castle’ 4-6-0 were also available for inspection while the first engineering prototypes of the ‘N’ gauge Class 40 and ‘OO’ gauge Brighton ‘Atlantic’ were expected to be received for evaluation before the end of August.
The manufacturer took the opportunity to provide detailed updates on all its current projects showcasing the current status of work on the ‘OO’ gauge steam crane, TPO stowage van, BR Mk 2f carriages together with the ‘OO9’ Baldwin 4-6-0T and wagons.
The event also saw Bachmann take stock of its recent appointment as European distributor for Proses model tools and accessories as well as a showcase of current Scenecraft building developments. Its new Dynamis RailController software was also demonstrated with this new PC interface to operate with Dynamis Ultima expected to become available in the autumn.
